Projects and Programs

We’re just getting started. Here's a small sampling of the additional community-building efforts we've undertaken since our inception in April 2020. More to come!

Take a Veteran Fishing!

When the XO Community Development Initiative took in a donated 1988 bass boat in need of a complete retrofit, our volunteers took up the challenge. We are now enhancing social services by taking veterans out for a day of fishing on a Houston area lake. All of the equipment, safety gear and a one day state required fishing license is provided by XO. Getting close to nature in quiet reflection is good for the soul, for both volunteer and veteran alike.

Volunteer Veterans Build: 1933 Hot Rod Fundraiser

Volunteers are excited to be starting the build on our “Factory Five Racing 1933 Hot Rod” kit car. Starting in May 2023, volunteer ASE certified mechanics and veterans began crafting the handmade automobile. Targeting a fall 2025 completion date, the charity built hot rod will be auctioned or raffled off to provide more funds for more XO Community Development Initiative program activities. Proud sponsors can donate now to keep the parts coming for this fundraiser by the XO Community Development Initiative.

Re-Entry Education Grants Programs

The XO Initiative hopes to build back communities with educational programs that will enhance future success for residents returning from justice system incarceration, addiction treatment, and mental health therapies. Our goal and vision is to partner with the Houston-area county facilities to enhance the educational opportunities for those who may never have had exposure to trades and skilled jobs that will lead to prosperous long-term stability. More to come on our partners’ Memoranda of Understanding.
